Diffused Aeration System

In the waste water treatment process. Aeration, to be effective, must transfer oxygen to the liquid for use by microorganisms, to produce a floc and mixing the liquor, diffused aeration is effective method for aeration by means of porous diffusers installed at the bottom of the tank. In the aeration process, oxygen transfer takes place by molecular diffusion through the interface film between air and liquid and it increases in the proportion to the interface area for a given air flow, as the number of bubbles increases, the surface area increases and the rise velocity of bubbles decreases. The diffused aeration transfer more oxygen to the liquid than mechanical aeration, e.g. diffuser emerging 2mm bubbles presents six times more surface area to the liquid than coarse bubble aerator emitting 10 to 12mm bubbles, also rise velocity is lower. Surface area and rise velocity of bubbles contribute to the higher oxygen transfer capacity of diffused aeration system.

De Mineralization (DM) Plant

Deionization also called as Demineralization, is an Ion Exchange Resin based process which can generate water, free of dissolved salt. DM process configuration includes basic cationic and Anionic Beds. Typically, the Cation Resin Operates in the Hydrogen cycle. The cations in the water (i.e. calcium, magnesium & sodium) pass through the Cation exchange resin where they are chemically exchanged for Hydrogen ions. The water then passes through the
Anion Exchange Resin where the Anions (i.e. Chloride, Sulphate, Nitrate and Bicarbonate) are chemically exchange for Hydroxide ions. The final water from this process consists essentially of Hydrogen ions and Hydroxide ions, which is the chemical composition of pure water.

SOFTENER PLANT

At KEN, Softening systems are designed to remove every trace of calcium and Magnesium ions which cause the hardness in water. The hardness in raw water gets exchanged with sodium ions in the sodium based Cationic Resin bed thus giving pure unadulterated water on further processing.
